End of Summer: Bringing the Calming Spirit of the Coast Home

End of Summer: Bringing the Calming Spirit of the Coast Home

  • There is something special about the end of summer.

The days begin to soften, the light changes, and the memories of warm afternoons, sandy feet, and peaceful walks along the water stay with us long after the season begins to fade.

While summer may be coming to an end, the feeling of the coast doesn't have to.

Hold On to the Feeling of Summer

The ocean has a way of making us slow down. The sound of the waves, the changing colors of the water, the open horizon, and the texture of the sand all remind us to pause and simply be present.

That feeling is what inspires my Coastal Artwork Collection.

Each piece is influenced by the beauty and movement of the shoreline—from rolling waves and peaceful horizons to soft coastal colors and the ever-changing atmosphere of the sea. Through layered color, expressive brushwork, and rich texture, these paintings are created to bring a sense of calm and connection into your home.

Because even when summer ends, that peaceful feeling can remain.

    Coastal Art for Every Season

Coastal artwork isn't just for beach houses.

A beautiful ocean-inspired painting can bring light, softness, and tranquility to any space. Whether you live near the water or miles from the nearest shoreline, coastal art can serve as a daily reminder of your favorite place to unwind.

Soft blues, sandy neutrals, seafoam greens, and layers of white can complement a variety of interiors, from relaxed coastal homes to modern and contemporary spaces.

A coastal painting can help create a room that feels:

    • Calm and inviting
    • Light and airy
    • Connected to nature
    • Relaxed and timeless

As we move from summer into fall, these peaceful colors can also create a beautiful transition. Coastal artwork brings brightness to a space while still feeling warm, layered, and natural.

    Create Your Own Coastal Escape

You don't need an ocean view to enjoy the calming spirit of the shoreline.

Art has the power to transform the feeling of a room. A painting inspired by the sea can become a window into another place—a reminder of a favorite vacation, a peaceful morning walk on the beach, or simply the feeling of standing near the water and watching the waves roll in.

Try styling coastal artwork with natural textures such as:

    • Light wood furniture
    • Linen fabrics
    • Woven accents
    • Ceramic vessels
    • Soft neutral textiles
    • Natural greenery

The goal isn't to create a themed space. Instead, choose pieces that make your home feel peaceful, personal, and connected to the places you love.

A Little Piece of Summer, All Year Long

As summer comes to a close, I'm reminded that some of the best things about the season aren't tied to a date on the calendar.

    The feeling of warm sunlight.

    The sound of the waves.

    The colors of the water.

The quiet moments when everything seems to slow down.

Those are the moments I hope to capture through my artwork.

My Coastal Artwork Collection is inspired by the beauty, serenity, and power of the sea. Each piece is created to bring a little of that feeling into your everyday life—whether you're decorating a beach house, refreshing your living room, or simply dreaming of your next trip to the coast.

So as we say goodbye to summer, perhaps we don't have to say goodbye to the coast.

Bring the calming spirit of the shoreline home and enjoy that feeling all year long.

Summer Pillow Style Guide

Summer Pillow Style Guide

If you are looking for a quick, inexpensive way to update your space, your pillows are a great place to start. New patterns, textures and colors can give your room a whole different feel. Choosing the right designs isn’t always easy. To help you transform your space try using this summer pillow style guide.
-
Use a cohesive color palette
Below are some great color combinations.  Summer is a great time to use a blue and yellow or grey and yellow combination.  These can work year-round and will give your space a calm feel. If you want something a little bolder, navy and orange or navy and sea-foam green are great nautical and beachy looks.

Mix and Match
The simplest way to pair pillows is with a solid color and any kind of print or pattern. You can easily pull a color from your patterned pillow onto a solid one.

Another pairing tip is to choose two similar, small patterns.  It’s very important to have a matching color palette here, if not it could end up looking like your toddler did the decorating.

Finally, try a simple pattern with something busier.  This technique should be left to the adventurous. Not only is it important to match your colors here but also the style and, in some cases, texture.

Don’t over do it
Your home is supposed to be a relaxing place so don’t go overboard by adding too many pieces.  Depending on the size of your couch or chair 2-4 pillows, in pairs of 2, should cover it. If you have a longer couch try 2 on one side and 3 on the other (see bonus tip to help you with this more).

Bonus Tip

Try using different sizes.  A large solid or simple pattern looks great behind a smaller bold print (or vice versa).  Throw pillows come is so many shapes and sizes now it’s easy to find great pieces that work together.
